Join our apprenticeship scheme – offering even more opportunities

For 2023, FCDO Services has launched its largest ever variety of apprenticeships. Applications are open until midnight on 26 March, with 13 schemes and 47 apprenticeships on offer. Join us as an apprentice and you’ll open up many different paths and possibilities.

We’re a government organisation that provides a range of services with the highest levels of security to UK and overseas government agencies. This includes design and construction, digital solutions, logistics, technical security, translation, and much more.

An apprenticeship to be proud of

We also have one of the most established apprentice programmes of its kind in the country – running for over 60 years.

Its humble beginnings were mainly engineering-focussed, but nowadays our apprenticeships have grown to cover a wider array of disciplines. As well as providing qualifications ranging from Level 2 to Level 6 – the equivalent of GCSE level to degree level.

Whether you’re interested in engineering, sustainability, marketing, data and numbers, tech or communications, there’s an apprenticeship for you at FCDO Services.

You could help:

  • global government projects stay on track and on budget
  • keep visa applications secure in the Cloud
  • ensure diplomatic packages cross continents and arrive in the right hands
  • build a secure embassy in a remote corner of the world
  • the UK’s diplomatic network shrink their carbon footprint across the globe
  • or much more!

Brand new schemes

We’ve added five new interesting disciplines this year, alongside our established schemes.

These include:

  • Architecture
  • Civil and structural engineering
  • Design and construction management
  • Project management and safety
  • Health and environment

Whichever apprenticeship you decide to do, you’ll be trusted to help protect and support the UK’s interests at home and overseas.

In some technical roles, you’ll even have the chance to work abroad in some normally out of reach locations.

Take that step to a bigger and brighter future

Whether you’re returning to work, changing jobs or just starting out – this isn’t just an apprenticeship – it’s a chance to do work that means more, in a place where everyone feels welcome.

To top it all off, our apprenticeships are fully funded and gives you a decent starting salary, civil service pension and a great range of benefits.

FCDO Services Apprentice:

It could be daunting coming into a large organisation as an apprentice, but I have felt really welcomed and supported. I have already learned so many skills both from my course and work and been pleasantly surprised at the amount of responsibility I have been entrusted with at such an early stage of my career.”

Mike Astell, Chief Executive Officer:

We’ve been hiring and developing apprentices since the 1960s, giving people the skills and opportunities to thrive. Our apprenticeships could see you working in a technical role overseas, or one which is based in Hanslope Park or London. You’ll end up being an integral part of your team, balancing your learning with real life work that supports critical government activity around the world.”
