UK government space investment delivers satellite communication resilience through FCDO Services

FCDO Services has today announced a ground-breaking partnership with NSSLGlobal and Eutelsat OneWeb to deliver innovative satellite communications for the UK government operations globally.

As climate challenges and global uncertainties increase, crisis response teams will gain access to high-speed, secure internet within minutes, even in the most challenging environments, through OneWeb’s LEO technology.

The partnership will further demonstrate FCDO Services’ role as the trusted ‘in government’ provider of secure communications solutions to the UK government, building on its heritage in satellite communications since the 1980s.

The Eutelsat OneWeb LEO satellite system delivers download speeds up to 195 Mbps and upload speeds up to 32 Mbps, enabling critical decision-making through uninterrupted high-definition communications in crisis situations without delays.

FCDO Services, working with NSSLGlobal, will provide seamless access to this technology for government customers, security assurance aligned with government requirements, and integration with existing secure communications infrastructure.

The partnership harnesses the UK’s technological innovation to secure our communications infrastructure while protecting it from international vulnerabilities.
