UK NACE awareness-level training
Giving you the skills you need to search for devices in secure environments
Eligibility
To apply for these courses, you must be a citizen of one of the following:
- the UK, Australia and New Zealand
- a NATO member country
- an EU member country
You must also be employed by one of the following:
- a government or public body in the UK, Australia, New Zealand or a NATO or EU member state
- a private-sector organisation in the UK, Australia, New Zealand or a NATO or EU member state that has a contract, on which you’re working, with a government department in the UK, Australia, New Zealand or a NATO or EU member state
Minimum security clearance
You must also have one of these minimum levels of security clearance:
- UK nationals: Security Check (SC)
- NATO member country nationals: NATO Secret
- EU member state nationals: EU Secret

We currently have a long waiting list for TSCM awareness-level training, with some very limited availability for our one day courses. TSCM awareness with aided physical search is fully booked for this Financial Year.

This course shows how information can be collected by technical means and demonstrates the role of TSCM in preventing, detecting and mitigating the risk of any loss of classified/sensitive information.
Designed particularly for non-technical personnel, this course covers:
- the threat from eavesdropping
- the role of the UK NACE
- identifying eavesdropping targets
- common methods of technical attack
- appreciation of risk assessment and the use of technical countermeasures

TSCM awareness with aided physical search

This course combines TSCM Awareness (see details of this course above) with learning how to do an aided physical search.
A physical search means looking for eavesdropping attacks or devices without using technical or electronic devices. The content and exercises in this course focus on the need to be methodical and thorough in making physical searches.
Part of this training is delivered in purpose-built training environments. This gives students the opportunity to practice the methods they learn in a realistic scenario.

This briefing covers TSCM awareness during the different stages of building projects, whether it is a new building or a refurbishment activity.
The aim of a new building program is to produce a facility which is secure and fit for purpose. During this briefing we will discuss best practice for preventing the insertion of a deep plant eavesdropping device in to the structure of the building.
The detail of this presentation can be expanded in certain topic areas to meet the needs of a particular audience, such as managers active at the planning stages or those involved elsewhere in providing on-site security supervision during the build stage.
Subjects covered include:
- TSCM awareness
- methods of technical eavesdropping attack
- risk assessment and good security practice at each stage
- case histories and a visit to the UK NACE museum
